    The 2026 NICER Symposium, titled "The One and Only NICER: Cytokines, Connections, and the Progress towards Cures," will delve into the latest advancements in cytokine biology and the connections - both personal and physiologic - central to creating cures for immuno-hematologic disorders.

Abstracts

Anyone may submit an abstract. Every NICER Institutional site is required to submit at least one abstract.

Deadline to submit: April 24, 2026

You are submitting an abstract for the 2026 NICER Symposium. Please complete all fields below using the following guidelines:

1. Title and Authors. The title should be brief, clearly indicating the nature of the study. CAPITALIZE ENTIRE TITLE. State all author’s initials and last names followed by their institutional affiliations, city, and state. Enter an asterisk (*) next to the “presenting” author only. Do not include street address or zip codes. 

 

2. Lay Summary. 100 words (500 characters)

3. Abstract.  Body Character Limit: 3,000 characters, which EXCLUDES the title, names of authors/co-authors, authors’ affiliations, spacing and IRB Approval/Consent Statements. Abstract Image, Table and/or Graphic Upload Limit: 2 images/figures/tables (not counted towards character count)

4. Abbreviations. Place nonstandard abbreviations in parentheses after the full word the first time it appears. Do not use abbreviations in the abstract title. 

5. Patient Identifiers. All identifying patient information must be removed from the abstract. 

 

6. Learning Objectives (Educational Abstracts; If not Educational, response n/a)

7. Disclosures. Please enter all relevant financial relationships. You may be contacted to provide more information.

 

Are encore abstracts accepted? Yes. 

Encore submissions must:

  • Be updated or modified in some way from the original submission,

  • Have been presented solely in abstract form, including publication in conference proceedings,

  • Not include material that has been or is expected to be published in manuscript form before the NICER symposium,

  • Disclose abstract acceptances at the time of abstract submission.

  • Permitting encore abstracts from the prior 12 months (from the symposium date), although they will NOT be eligible for awards.

Join us in Ann Arbor for the 2026 NICER Symposium, themed "The One and Only NICER: Cytokines, Connections and Progress Towards Cures" as we the reflect on the then and now of NICER alongside explorations of connections (via cytokines or personal!) that have nudged the field of immuno-hematology forward to embrace new technologies and targeted therapies.
